If it's to be based on communication, language and literacy why not get the children to sit down for a story and christmas songs?? You can talk about the book with them and ask tem questions about the colours or characters and it also shows use of language and literacy. After the songs maybe talk about Father Christmas and Christmas.

Aim to get the children talking to and with you and build up a session around what you have planned and where they take it.
