I am currently a room supervisor and have applied for a job as manager. What sort of questions might they ask?
I am expecting
EYFS, old and new
legislation
managing teams
motivation of staff
dealing with conflict
working with parents
knowledge of legislation
safeguarding
preparing for ofsted inspections
What might they surprise me with?

You need to also think of as you interviewing the setting to ensure that its one that you want to work with (if its not your current setting) and have some questions prepared
How do you show that you value your staff?
What are you pans for the nursery in the next year/5 years?
What is their management style (also good if you think what style yours takes)
Also have a few scenarios/situations at hand where you've dealt with challenge/conflict and how you resolved it.
Good luck!

You would only need to know about budgets and funding if it was part of your job description. Neither of my managers do the funding.
My biggest priority is safeguarding, our policies and procedures and working with parents.
