Transitions into early years settings
Transitions into early years settings

Hi all,
I am currently carrying out my literautre search for my dissertation. I am comparing transition programmes between maintained and independent nurseries.
I am aware there is alot of literature on transition into school - is anyone aware of any literature regarding transitions into nurseries, daycare, pre-schools etc?
As always, your help is much appreciated.

It's not a literary source, but think Teachers TV website has some video clips about how nurserys handle transitions which may give you ideas

There are a few good articles on the Nursery World website, such as this.
Good luck

i have worked i a pre-school and private day care, the only information we gained to aid transition when the children started, was from the parent/carer. at the private day care nursery we had to fill in a transition form to give to the nusery school which we were attached to.

This is why I'm so interseted! It appears that the emphasis on transition is more for the Schools re: programmes/provision. What about nuseries in the PVI sectors. Surely transition is crucial at any point in a child's life NOT just before they start school?
Anymore views or guidence for literature welcomed!

Just had an e-mail about a new guide to transition in the early years from Elizabeth Jarman Ltd. Might be interesting for you.
