Becoming a childminder

by: Dannie.Louise - 04-04-12 13:17

I've been working with children aged 6-weeks to 14 years for 3 years. I've recently looked into becoming a childminder now i'm moving to a bigger house in june. I want to open my own nursery in th future and i feel it would give me a gist of what it would be like.

Any advice?

Hi Danielle

Contact your local authority for advice.  If you want to start small you can start as a childminder and work either by yourself or 2 others (Assistants or co-childminder).  Then later on if you want to increase staff on your premises you can go back to Ofsted to change to daycare on domestic premises!

Too lengthy here to explain, but contact your local authority to clarify the situations for you.  Also contact Ofsted.
