Hey
its all about working with the staff, parents/guardians and children if any behaviour problems arise within the nursery and at home ,how we can sort out the problem and develope a more relaxed and well behaved child.
Also promoting positive behaviour throughout the setting,

read through the behaviour policy, do you agree with it? what needs up dating. Try and observe practice in every room to gain an insight on how everybody deals with behaviour, negative and positive. What is the protocol for praising and rewarding as well as disciplining. Again do you agree with it? or if do not agree, then you will need to take this up with the manager and together agree a new strategy. Within our nursery there isn't usually a great deal for the behaviour co-ordinator to do as we all agreed on our behavioural strategy when we stared. You may find that you will need to shadow a child if their behaviour is inappropriate and you may need to support new/less experience staff when dealing with challenging behaviour. However in my experience if you have high skilled qualified staff there won’t be a great deal for you to do, as these staff members will speak to their key children’s families generally if there are any issues and will know what/ and how to deal with inappropriate behaviour.
Good luck

This role is something that has been identified within the revised EYFS that will be required from September 2012 for settings.

THere has always been a requirement for someone to be responsible for behaviour management? I am at my setting. I sometimes do a behaviour audit which consists of observations of children and staff, comments from staff, asking parents, etc I look at room layout to see if it can be improved to help prevent boredom. Also the curriculum to ensure not all child led free play but a good mixture of adult led activities too.
Looking at and reviewing methods of management, eg traffic lights, training staff to help them understand distraction.
