i am currently writing an essay on faimlies, the definitions, importance and how economics has affected the stucture. i am also explorining what it is that children learn from family life and was wondering if anyone knows of any literature to help support and criticise my thinking, it would also be helpfull to hear peoples views on what they believe a family is?

Hi there,

I covered something similar for my Foundation Degree. This edited book had a chapter that was really useful and i'm sure if you can access it, it will help:

Gupta PD (1995) Growing Up in Families. In Barnes,P (eds)Personal, Social and Emotional Development of Children. (Oxford: Blackwell Publishers LTD)

Regarding families, ECEC and economics The OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)website may be useful.

Hope this helps,

allie :)
