Hi sugarplumfairy
Just out of interest, how are you being asked to undertake the Knowledge Specification, sounds as if its assingment work or is it getting knowledge together for a professional discussion.

an easy way to look at this is trying to fit an activity into just one area of learning - it can't be done !!
So for example an activity like making paints up would cover K+U (what happens to the powder paint when you put water into it) CLL new words/language that may come up as you are talking about colours/cause and effect, PSE co operating with others, Phys skills needed to mix paint, pour the water etc, maths (how much water, more, less, enough etc) creative - using imagination what will happen do you think, etc etc.
So you can see how all activities cover all areas giving all round development as Mandy said.

OOPS just realised went on my band wagon - and did not answer your question....sorry, but Joshua jones had a good reply.... sorry
holistic means the whole picture with regards the child's development - looking at the child as a whole - and all of the above
