Relevence of Montessori education today

Hi!
I worked in a Montessori setting for about 3 years and at points found it hard to understand the philosophy, especially due the lack of creativity. After a while I accepted its benefits, although I feel many aspects of it has changed since Maria herself thought about it!
Anyway, im in my second year of the ECH degree and am about to write an esaay on the relevence of her ideas today.ie whats the same and what is important for children's development. I was wondering whether any of you are Montessori experts and have any help for me in writing this. I'm especially interested in other aspects, like hidden curriculum rather than didactic materials.
