I am astonished at your comment! The European system including Italy has a far more advanced system than the British! Reggio Emilia is a world renowned philosophy which is highly regarded throughout the world infant education system having been named the worlds best pre schools it is used in the USA Australia and Britain. It is true that it only exists in Reggio (although other parts of Italy are beginning to use the philosophy) and only applies to children under school age BUT it certainly is not made up for anyone and they make no apology for anything they do. maybe you should acees some reading into eggio emilia and loris Malaguzzi. I spent time there and belive me it is early years practice at its very best - aspirational and inspirational and the basis for much of the pedagogy we attempt in this country. It is not regulated or inspected, but it is no worse for this. I am curious as to why you believe them to be so far behind what are you comparing it to? Of course anything is open to critiscism but I would go back and work there in a heartbeat
