You could do a great opening parade with costumes and music and a march around the playground with the parents invited.

Have you asked the children what their knowledege of the Olympics is? Is this something they are really interested in? Try to build on the knowledge they have. This subject could be too abstract for pre-school children.

We have asked the children what they know about the Olympics and have used this as a building block to plan in enhancements to support learning.

an activity we are doing is making olympic rings. Cut toilet rolls into pieces, children have 5 circles each, paint in relevant colour, glue together to form olympic circle ring.

what age are your children you are doing the activities with???  We are doing an olympic week and as i work in the baby room, we were doing races in the garden using bikes, baby walkers etc.  we are encouraging the children to make their own medals using our craft resources.

We have a wall display and on it we have a countdown to the Olympic opening ceremony (27th July) each day we tear off a number. We then encourage the children to count (together) to that number.
