amount of staff required at least/ different to ratio
amount of staff required at least/ different to ratio

Hello,
I have a question about where to find the information:
Our preschool has always 2 members of staff inside, 2 outside. I'm not sure if that's only "good practice" or a legal requirement (2 have at least 2 members of staff in each room). For the 1:8/ 1:4 ratio we would only need 3 members of staff. We don't want to change anything, but looking for good reasons - mainly to explain to parents so they understand why we are asking for for fundraising to top up income.
Thank you!

We are the same, it is called Good Practice! I have too many staff in one of my settings and sometimes our ratios are 1:3 for 2-4 yr olds but I prefer this to cutting staff hours. Some settings have to fundraise to maintain minimum ratios so don't feel bad for keeping up with good practice.

23 children aged 2-5 with 6 staff...I value my long serving staff too much to change my ratios, and i know our parents appreciate that too x
