S.E.F evidence
S.E.F evidence

Hi everyone,
I have just completed my sef and submitted online and am now preparing a folder for the office.
Do you have to put evidence into the folder? If so what have you added to yours?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

i had an evidence file, and anything i mentioned in the SEF went in it. certain policies, risk assessments, parental feedback, example of planning and assessment. Basically bits of evreything. The idea was that the inspector had everything in front of them, and then if they wanted further evidence they could ask for it, as opposed to presenting them with hundreds of files worth of information

We've just had a big meeting for our SEF and have been advised to have separate evidence folders for each section of the SEF outcomes

I would ask who are you collecting the evidance for and to read the Ofsted guidance for inspection.

I agree with Laura
Also why are collecting evidence to put in a seperate folder? This seems to be duplicating work and runs the risk that you may up date one folder - say your policy folder and not the other.
Practice is far more important than paperwork - and inspectors will now gather their primary evidence from observations and discussions - with documentation being used to support those observations - and provide secondary evidence.
However whatever 'system' you use - it must be right for your setting - it must work for you . so if you decide to have a SEF folder, be sure that having a SEF folder is right for you

I thought it would make sense to have an evidence folder as ofsted would not be able to see everything we do in a one day inspection. All evidence would be in one place and easier to find rather than taking out lots of folders.
Sunshine im just wondering why would you need to have seperate folders for each section?
Laura- the folder would be kept in the office and availbale to anyone be parents/oftsed. Ive heard that ofsted always ask to see your sef folder when they come for inspection.
