Hi does anyone do this in the summer...where parents not bringing their child for the summer, have to deregister at the end of July, then pay their 'registration' fee again in September ?? Planning for the long break with hardly any children......

Nowhere I have worked has done that. If the child wanted to keep thier space they had to keep paying fees. One child went away for six weeks, and the parent wanted to pay half price, but that wouldnt have guaranteed his space on his return (and most nurseries have waiting lists) Also what if they then went on to alternative childcare eg a nanny? Depends if you and or the parents are willing to take that risk

AT keep in touch meeting with LA last sat. she catergorically said we had to keep their place open.between end of july and beg of sep....when i tried to get them all to do at least one session they came and changed my policies and crossed it out -not allowed...HAlf fees during the summer -not allowed..I too have a waiting list..am at my wits end with 75% of my children 'funded'--- they have non working parents (governments idea has not worked) so none of them will attend for the summer....I do not want to turn into a sessional setting so what can i do....every summer the same....after school club a possibility but lots of our school children also do not attend. What do other full daycare do during the summer..?

Offer extra sessions to the paying customers? Put a list of dates availabe eg Mon 8th July, ten full day spaces available in Pre-school room and the cost. In most places I have worked, sadly, parents seem keen to offload, or yes need to take on overtime, so the extra spaces may come in useful. At one place nearly everyday we had children coming in on days they were not due, as 'extra'. We thought we were having a quiet day, then four children who don't usually do that day come wandering in.
