B2B scams

Existing nursery owners will be well aware of the myriad of B2B scams going on, but new owners may not be as well informed.
Beware of callers ringing you and asking you to place adverts in police, fire service and RAF magazines. These are scams. They may well even send you a copy of a backcopy of their 'magazine'. It works because they make a few hundred copies of the magazine and all of these are used to post to businesses in order to sell advertising. The magazine itself that you have advertised in is not published or sold.
Another scam is rate reduction. This one is quite involved, check it out online by googling rate reduction scam.
Debt collectors? Never found a decent one yet, before you take them on google their reviews.
Another strange one. Several years ago I thought about selling up. I had all of the normal nursery estate agents come in to give me a valuation and a quote on their fees, they were all pretty much the same regarding these. One though, an Irish firm gave me a valuation that was 300% over the others. They wanted £1,000 upfront. Googled them - scam!
The moral of the story is - always google reviews before you commit to anything. Does anyone else have any scams to report?
