Just reviewing our fire procedures and would be interested to hear from any nurseries who have their under 2s on the first floor with regards to evacuating them in the event of a fire/emergency? With stairs it's no use having an evacuation cot. Has anyone got any other tips or aides to evacuate as quick as possible?

We have upstairs rooms that house under 2s. The fire services know to come straight to a designated window in the event of a fire to evacuate first floor children before entering the ground floor rooms. We have 3 monthly contact with the fire services. Incidentally, they have a preferred fire risk assessment document which they will give you a copy of if you ask them. It is a bit of a tome though!
