It stands for childrens assessment team in cheshire, google it for your county council.

Thanks very much. Still no luck tho! What would the chart assess?

Our CAT advisor comes to categorise the level of support that we need for the academic year ahead and our CAT report is then broken down into an achievable action plan.

Thanks. This is probably it, just never heard it called this before. Has anyone ever 'argued' with there early years advisor? Sometimes I feel the changes aren't relevant for our setting.

Don't bother just say yes and smile otherwise you will end up bitter and twisted like me.

I agree with Bagpuss and you will find Whmon will say exactly the same. Smile, say yes, shut the door and then do what you feel right! They are there to advise not dictate and you will get more confident with them. By following them it is their stamp on your setting, by going your own way, as long as you meet all of the requirements of the EYFS and you and your staff understand and believe in what you are providing, you will have a stronger and unique setting. It has taken me 3 years but now it's MY way!

As Ramaroo says - do what YOU feel is right for YOUR setting. Follow their advice if you think it is good and ignore it if it is not good. I once made a complaint against a member of my local EYFS team and she was then 'moved' to another area. I think the whole EYFS team had missgivings about her and jumped on my complaint as if I had handed them a gift.

I made a complaint about my EY team leader and got a visit from her boss who put me on another 6 weeks intensive complience! So i heve employed a Manger now to 'smile and say yes of course' and while she is at it do all my risk assessments and policies. I went into toddler room, today we made rain with shredded paper and the sound of 'pitter patter' with dried beans on plastic and had a great time signing rain songs, but know one saw it but me and my toddler room leader and 7 toddlers.

You realise don't you that we will all be doing that with dried beans and shredded paper tomorrow! :) Lovely idea!
Ours are called QSIP meetings and we get red, amber or green. Green being a once a year visit, the rest being more. AS the others say, smile and say yes!
We have to have green in order to get our funding so we don't make too many waves. The annoying thing is that I am better qualified than the EY advisor (we started our degree togther but she dropped out to have a child) so I find it difficult not to question everything she say!
