5 little girls and boys lying in a row all 'having a baby' one little girl is the doctor....nursery manager watching from a chair positon to 'keep an eye' but not at there level communicating with them about it.
How would you have dealt with it? Suggestions for future use welcome.
I didn't feel comfortable it was a role play to encourge but can see how the children are using it to live through relevant life experiences etc....(or somebodies mum has let them watch one born every minute!)

i wouldnt discourage it at all. maybe lead to vanimals as playing vets and animals having babies is less contentious?

Why would you discourage it?
I had a conversation with a 4 year old in the home corner this morning who had a baby stuffed up her jumper. She was sat on the sofa reading the newspaper.
I said "Ooh you are having a baby, I wonder if it is a boy or a girl?"
She said "I'm only pretending!"

I wouldn't discourage it at all, you could follow on by looking at pictures of pregnant women. Role play with 'newborn dolls' etc, care of babies. We had a child who's parents let them watch Ted! Now that could have made very interesting role play in the home corner that would have needed more than an 'eye keeping!' Luckily the child only talked about it then went and played with the bricks.
