Hiya im currently studying a foundation degree in early years (yr3) and im finding it extremly hard 2 get back into accademic writing after a 6 month break. If u guys could give me any reasuring words of advice or widom please do!!!
For 1 im dyslexsic not that im using this as an excuse but i find writing accademicly hard to begin with. My time management skills r not good either and seem 2 leave things till the last minute and i understand the essay content its just writing it down in an essay can ne 1 relate 2 this???
My 2500 wrd essay has 2 be handed in next thur and i feel the failure boat sailing in and im there waiting heheh honestly im losing the will 2 live and wana pack it all in!
The essay consists of:
1. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of principles and theory underpinning the development of the EYFS. 2. Apply knowledge of principles , recent theory and research to support the holistic development of children and a positive sense of self. 3. Critically analyse the role of the practitioner in supporting the care and development of children in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals.
If ne 1 can offer any thing plz do it will be much appreciated, thank you x

hoho this is almost what I'm covering at the moment. Our group never learn, always leave things to the last minute. Youre right you cant blame dyslexia on whether you are any good at acadamic writing but this is what I do hope it helps.
First of all (assuming you do it straight on the computer)
type some headings
eg introduction
then your 3 points from above
conclusion
recommendations
then:
read some books (not all the way through you probably wont have time. As you are skimming through if any "high powered" words come up or you like the reference then write them down then type these under the relevant heading
it doesnt have to make sense at this time. go through your handbook and any handouts youve had. just typing words and phrases.
then go through it turning it into english.
then go through again changing the words to sound more acadamic. then go through again making sure your referencing properly. compare and contrast! refer to own practice and say how it can be improved.
hope thats helped I always get high marks

keep at it! I had a study break of 20 YEARS but still managed to get it done! I've also had to go back and do math and English at the ripe old age of 42 so you are never too late to learn!

ive just handed my essay about this in! i too am dyslexic and struggle with getting it started, i find it easyer to put it on paper first and as scarlet said put the headings up i have a piece of paper for each heading then when it comes to typing it up i just put the sentences in the order their needed. have got a very good reading list for reasurch if you need anything.

I can relate to how your feeling!!!
How far have you got? I'd break down each point and takle it like this.....
1. discuss K&U of the main principles behind EYFS and why it is inplace, and then link this to any theory you have covered.
2. then extend this to relate to why a holistic approach to development is best and the impact on sense of self.
3. pick out some aspects of the practitioners role when considering partnership with parents and working with other and be critical as to how these aspects support care and development.
hope this helps
