A parent has informed us today that she is looking for a new nursery - because she is sick and tired of being asked to pay off her arrears!

Oh dear.

What a terrible time she must be having. Paying for what she uses. Tsk.

Does the nursery have a policy for chasing bad debts when a parent leaves with fees outstanding? Perhaps the parent thinks the debt will just disappear when she leaves.

She has paid - finally, but she is not a happy bunny.

We had some parents who left with money outstanding. Not enough to go through all the hassle of collecting. A few years later they bring their next child to the nursery!

Same has happened to us Tiggy! We only accepted them on the basis that the outstanding amount was paid, then - we explained to them they had to book on a weekly basis but the booking would not be recorded until the fee was paid.

Glad the parent has paid but if they do move then you should find out where the are going and give the new nursery a friendly warning.

Of course, you could lock the children up in the staff room on the last day and if the parents don't pay up, they don't get their kids back! Of course, this could backfire on you if the parents decide, all things considered, they'd much rather keep the money rather than their brat of a child!
