Imagination and Creativity in song - a silly game!

As I've said before, I don't work on the nursery floor. Every now and then though, I take a little break from the office and go on the floor to see what is going on.

When I go into a room the children always shout my name and run over to give me cuddles - which is lovely! Then I'll play a little game with them. Our favourite is (was) for me to say 'Ok, I'm going to sing you a song. Now though, they know the game and they will say ''Sing us a song!'

So, I will sing for e.g 'Twinkle twinkle'.

I'll sing:

'Twinkle, twinkle little star

how I wonder what you are

Up above the world so high

like a < insert any word, for e.g pineapple/dinosaur/teapot/etc>

in the sky'

At which point the children all shout 'NO! YOU GOT IT WRONG!' Then they will tell me to listen while they sing the correct version. Sometimes they will sing it to each other and insert their own wrong word, loving the giggles they get from their peers!

Similarly, with the ABC song, to a similar response, I like to end it with 'Now I know my A to Zed, won't you make me me some pink milk to drink in bed!'

Mine love it when I read Little rabbit foofoo and chnage the worms, goblins, etc to the children's names.
