the nursery my daughter was at had a simple school text book divided into columns. you dropped your child off and were politely reminded to sign in/out. my son's after school facility uses the same high tech!! technique

parents need to be reminded or any system will fail!

At ours the staff note the time the child leaves on the daily sheet.

We do have one parent who insists on signing his child IN and OUT of the staff signing in book!

Previous nursery had parents sign in and out on a daily sheet. With staff making a note (if they remembered of the time)

Someone was telling me about this the other day. Currently we have a register where staff sign when a child comes in and when they leave. I think this is quite useful as if there are any problems, we can work out which member of staff spoke to the parents that morning or evening. However someone told me that parents need to be signing children in and out as well.

Do we need a separate sheet for parents to sign when they drop children off? Do they only sign to say they've dropped their child off, or is it like a visitor form where they sign themselves in and out both times?

Must sign in or out...full daycare would not be able to work fees out if they didnt...that wa the reason for my initial question...parents dont sign out so cannot work fees out...

We use a register in all our classes from pre-nursery upto year 2. Parents only sign in and out if they are staying for a meeting as do any other visitors. The book is in the office. I know it's more formal using a register but at least we can keep an eye on the fees and the children learn to answer their names

Each room have a signing in and out register with the tims recorded as well as a main one in reception for parents to sign in and out also stating who has dropped off and picked up. Works well.
