In your work mention forest schools and if possible try and spend time in a forest school. for a mini research project I had to do at college I looked at learning environments and found that the outdoor area is the best. I was told to look at forest schools and talk to different schools about what they thought.
Have two questionnaires. One for the children in simple language with tick boxes and bright colours and a more complex one with the correct terms for the adults. Depending upon the age of the children you could also ask the questions and ask them to put thier hands up.
If possible take photogrpahs of the settings without the children in them as evidence of the different outdoor play environments. It allows you then to have a visual to compare and contrast them.
